"Tank" - The Wartime Magazine of CAC and Borden

A very important consideration of the new Armoured Corps was to quickly build a sense of identity unique to itself.

One method was the introduction of the Black Beret,  but this page is dedicated to “Tank” magazine. This magazine was produced in Camp Borden from November 1940 until June 1945. This magazine would have been read by all cadre, instructors, and trainees during that time period. Issues were published every one to two months and cost ten cents or a full year for one dollar.

There were articles on leadership, past battles, news from various courses, overseas and local units ad always; the women’s auxiliary. There is also a fair amount of local advertising. Many articles are from other publications such as the US Infantry Journal.

Significant space is dedicated to intra-unit sports; track and field, cross country running, swimming, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, boxing and of course – hockey.

Below are the copies as collected by MGen Worthington.  (Due to the size and number of the PDF files, we cannot show previews on this page.)

The collection is incomplete, however copies of the missing issues are being acquired from various sources to present a complete set of the magazines here in future.
