New France
New France was the area of North America colonized by France. It existed from 1534 when claimed for France by Jacques Cartier until it was conquered by Britain in 1763.
New France consisted of five independent colonies:
It extended from Newfoundland to the Prairies and from Hudson Bay to the Gulf of Mexico, including all the Great Lakes of North America.
